Jean Claude PAPIN (1627-1667), Seigneur de L'ÉPINE
He was born in Hennebont, Bretagne and died in St. Pierre in Martinique. Jean was Capitaine de milice at Lamentin, Martinique.
Jean Calude PAPIN arrived from d'Anjou to the Antilles in about 1647 and was killed in 1667 during the British siege of Saint Pierre, Martinique (Source 1).
It is possible that "Jean DUPONT" and Jean-Claude are the same person or that Jean-Claude is the son of Jean. For all purposes, the Du Pont genealogy in Martinique starts with Jean-Claude.
In 1658, he married Marie d'ORANGE (1641). She was born in Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe. She was the daughter of Marie d'Orange was the daughter of Guillaume d'Orange (1605-1674) and Madeleine Huguet de BUSSY (1613-1690)
